Junior School
In Junior school, your child will develop the literacy and numeracy skills they need to succeed throughout their time in school and beyond. Building this foundation in key areas during the junior school years allows students to unlock their full potential and discover their passions.
While the learning that takes place in the classroom is very important and we take it seriously , junior school is truly an exciting time in a child’s life because of all the new experiences available beyond the classroom. Whether it’s taking part in after-school programs or participating in sports, there are countless ways for students to get involved in school life and make the most of their experience.
RIVERSIDE SCHOOL JUNIOR DEPARTMENT
As children interact with the environment around them, they see, hear, feel, taste and smell the various aspects of the world around them. All this interaction amounts to nothing but naïve or incomplete ideas. This is what students bring into the school environment when they come for formal learning.
Riverside School Junior Department provides students with the perfect and flexible platform:
- Where they make conclusions and make meaning out of their previously acquired naïve ideas.
- That helps them to discover themselves and understand who they really are and the potential in them.
- That gives them the springboard upon which they can work to realize their full potentials.
- Where mistakes are not taken as problems but learning curves.
- Where students showcase what they are capable of doing, without any hesitation to promote independent learning and innovation.
Our teaching/learning approach is designed to teach students how to think and not what to think. We are guided in our approach by the concept of METACOGNITION, to develop in students the following skills:
- Critical thinking
- Observation
- Analyzing
- Problem solving

READING
They say if you can READ but you are not reading, then there is no difference between you and someone who cannot read. We take reading as a very important component of the Junior Department’s learning programs. All students in the department have access to our wide variety of reading material in our library through an online reading program coordinated by the school’s librarian. This is designed to develop their reading skills, comprehension and widen their vocabulary.
THE STAFF
We have a well-polished and dedicated staff that is continually workshopped to remain relevant and in touch with the current trends in the facilitation of the students’ socio-academic development.
